Notice: Frontenac Howe Islander Docks Rehabilitation

Howe Island County operated ferry docks rehabilitation project

Clearwater Structures Inc. has been awarded Contract 2022-4030 for the Howe Island Ferry Terminals project on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation. This work involves the rehabilitation of the ferry docks at the Howe Island Mainland Side and Frontenac Islands Township side.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2026. 

A mainland detour route is provided and delineated by detour signage.

HOWE ISLAND 3-CAR FERRY – RED LIGHT PROTOCOL

Public Notice 
Howe Island 3-Car Ferry Red Light Protocol 

Background:
Several years ago, a RED LIGHT was installed on the Howe Island 3-Car Ferry building facing the mainland.  This light was used during regular operating hours and illuminated when the ferry was unable to operate for any reason.

A new red light has now been installed on the ferry building at the Howe Island 3-Car Ferry terminal.

New Protocol: 
In addition to email notifications and notices posted on X, residents and users are advised that:

Please be advised that the Wolfe Island Office will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on February 2, 2026.
